Privacy Policy
Version 2.1 · Effective 5 October 2026
This page describes what happens to information when you use EatMenuGuide (https://eatmenuguide.com) or get in touch with us. Using the site means you accept the practices described here.
What we receive
When you write to us — through email, the contact form, a tip or a listing claim — we get the details you include, usually a name, an email address and your message. Reading the site needs no account.
Technical data also reaches us as a normal part of serving web pages: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open and where you came from. Analytics and advertising services only gather more once you have accepted cookies.
Why we use it
- Answering your messages, tips and claim requests.
- Keeping the site running, secure and easy to use.
- Understanding traffic and, with your consent, showing ads.
- Stopping misuse and complying with the law.
Personal information is never sold.
Cookies and Google advertising
A small number of essential cookies keep the site working. Analytics and advertising cookies stay switched off until you press “Accept” in the banner, and you can reverse that any time through Cookie settings.
EatMenuGuide uses Google AdSense and Google Analytics. Google and other third-party vendors place cookies to show ads based on what you previously did on this site or elsewhere online. Those advertising cookies let Google and its partners tailor ads to you across the web.
To turn off personalised ads, use Google Ad Settings, or visit www.aboutads.info to opt out of other vendors’ cookies. Browser settings can also block or delete cookies, although parts of the site may then work less well. More on Google’s handling of data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Advertising is kept apart from the directory: no restaurant can buy a better position, and ads do not alter any listing.
Who else sees it
- Companies that help us operate the site, such as hosting, DNS/CDN and email providers.
- Google, for the analytics and advertising described above.
- Public authorities when required by law or to protect legal rights.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live — California, the EU and the UK among them — you may be entitled to see, correct or erase the personal data we hold, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, or receive a copy. Using these rights will not lead to worse treatment. Email [email protected] to make a request.
Storage and safeguards
Information is kept for as long as we need it for the purposes above or the law requires, then deleted. We use sensible technical and organisational protections, though no online service can promise perfect security.
Where data is processed
We operate from the United States and rely on providers in several countries, so your data may be handled in the U.S. and elsewhere.
Young visitors
The site is not aimed at anyone under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Outside links
Some listings point to restaurant websites or other services. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies.
Updates
When this policy changes we will post the new version and date here.
